Digging deeper into health: What actually causes type 2 diabetes? Is the current method for medical treatment doing anything to treat the cause and reverse it? The standard medical treatment of diabetes attempts to control blood sugar levels and treat the symptoms. But is there a better way?
Diabetes medication can be lifesaving, but it does nothing to treat or reverse diabetes. Even with the best medication, diabetes is the leading cause of blindness, kidney failure, limb amputation and nerve damage (neuropathy).
In just one year, diabetes was responsible for:
-50,000 cases of kidney failure
-75,000 cases of limb amputation
-650,000 cases of blindness
-75,000 deaths
Doctors may tell you that once you have diabetes, you will always have diabetes, and based on the current treatment method, that is true.
But is the current treatment method the best treatment method?
Before I answer that question, let’s first look at the cause of type 2 diabetes. You probably have heard the term, “insulin resistance”, so this is a good place to start. The purpose of insulin is to initiate a process that should result in glucose getting into the cells.
If you have type 2 diabetes, you have insulin resistance and the insulin that you produce is NOT resulting in glucose getting into the cells. Why not? What is preventing insulin from doing its job? The answer is fat cells. The medical term is, “Ectopic Lipid Accumulation”. This is fat at the cellular level in the muscles and can happen to someone thin or someone overweight. The point is that this fat is causing a traffic jam and is stopping insulin from doing its job of getting glucose in the cell.
What if I told you that there is a very simple way of eliminating this “Ectopic Lipid Accumulation” and that if you do get rid of it, your type 2 diabetes can probably be reversed?
It is true that for most people, this can be reversed once you learn where it came from and how to eliminate it. Ectopic Lipid Accumulation comes from the saturated fat in meat, dairy, eggs, oil, and body fat. To get rid of it, all you have to do is stop eating meat, dairy, eggs, and oil. Instead, eat fruits, beans, vegetables, corn, brown rice, oatmeal, and other plant-based foods.
In a recent study published in the Open Journal of Preventative Medicine, 13 adults with type 2 diabetes, between the ages of 30 and 80 had a starting HbA1c that averaged 8.2 and at the end of the 7-month study, the average HbA1c dropped to 5.8!! As you probably know, when HbA1c drops below 6.0, you are no longer considered diabetic!
They got these amazing results from eating fruits, vegetables, beans, salads, seeds, steamed greens with mushrooms and onions, oatmeal, and squash. They eliminated white flour, sweets, oils, and animal products
